Welcome Handiscovers first Brand Ambassador – Natalie
I am a person who loves food. Pasta, cheese and bread are the best things I know. So you can guess what my dream destination is.. As long as I can remember I’ve dreamed of going to Italy. The reason why? It’s because of all the food. My mind can’t get enough of all the pizza, pasta and the cheese. My mouth gets watery at the thought of it. Besides the food, I think that Italy is a very nice city and I would love to go there and take pictures. I am also very interested in old and historic buildings like churches which Italy has plenty of. It would be cool to see the Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
In addition to Italy, I would like to visit Spain again. I have been there twice, both in Alicante and Barcelona and liked it a lot. The two cities were good in different ways. Alicante is more of a family resort and I went there with the family so I liked it more. However, I think that Barcelona is fun to go with your friends.
My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Spain, but which city we do not know yet. I’m really looking forward to it, to have a drink on the beach, hand in hand. Coming to Spain is a little like coming to Brazil. We have a similar culture, I understand the language and the climate is wonderful. I know my home quite easily.
When I was 14 my whole family went to Åre, Sweden to spend the winter holiday there. It was so awesome! We stayed in a suite at Åre’s finest hotel, we saw the black hill from our window. During the days we were outside enjoying winterland Sweden and during the evenings we went to the spa section of the hotel, or got heated up by a cup of hot chocolate at the After Ski.
Unfortunately, Åre is not my kind of destination. During winter time it’s very cold and the main thing with Åre is to be outside and hang. I’ve never been a person who liked winter. Partly because it’s cold, but also because my body hurts when the cold hits me. I am also a person who is totally uninterested in sports in cold weather. So I sat sometimes at the hotel under a blanket and watched Sex and the City, which didn’t matter because I could not ski, although I want to try it sometime.
My kind of winter travel is to where it’s warm. I would consider myself to go to Greece because it is a historical country, warm and so beautiful. I want to lie on a beach chair all day, eat well and see how my friends are freezing at home on Instagram. I am also interested in historic buildings so a little sightseeing would also be fun.
Thats all for now!
New Year has always been holy to me. Everything starts over. I believe New Year’s resolutions are a bit overrated and it feels like your promises are just empty words. However, I believe in New Year goals and instead of having a promise you have a goal to reach, you can fight for the peace and quiet. New Year is like you get a new chance.
As I mentioned before, New Year is holy to me and I want to celebrate it with luxury. I want a huge dinner with my family. My mom is usually in the kitchen all day long to prepare the food and setting the table in Stockholm, Sweden. New Year would never feel the same if there was no family dinner. Sometimes my parent’s friends join us for the dinner. Since I was 17 I have had an assistant for New Year. I remember the first New Year’s Eve when I could finally walk at a New Year’s party that two of my best friends had organised. I was so happy! After our dinner at home, I want to go to a house party with my best friends. Last year was the first time my boyfriend and I celebrated the New Year together and it was so special for me. We went to a party at my friends place. All of our closest friends were there, dressed up, and the guy I love the most. It was magical, and at midnight I screamed out: “This year, I will graduate”! Haha
I’ve never celebrated New Year abroad, except when I was four years old, but I don’t remember anything. I’ve heard that China is supposed to be fun around the New Year, and I think an even slightly warmer country like Spain could be nice to celebrate in, or why not Paris? For me it is not the place that is important, it’s who you are with.
One of the things that I love most is to go shopping. I love clothes, shoes and yes, basically everything about it. My best shopping experience to date was last summer when I was in London on a girls trip with my mother. Since I was thirteen years old I had dreamed about going in to a real Victoria’s Secret store and once I was there I almost teared up, I was very very close! All the glitter and pink made me feel like I was in heaven. Even Primark, which I had been looking forward to blew my expectations, mind and my wallet. I found so much. London is also a retro-posh city with so much style and that is what I love.
As a shopping town, I would definitely recommend! Most shops are disabled friendly and you will be responded to with world class. Unlike Sweden, I felt like a princess in London! It was like that during my whole visit in London. The English people are so polite and so am I so I really liked it there. I loved the city so much that I am thinking of applying to a journalist school there.
If I had to choose another city except London to shop in, I would choose New York, just for their Victoria’s Secret. I think it would be cool to go shopping in New York and feel like Carrie Bradshaw, who is my biggest role model and favourite character. Although China, Shanghai would be cool to go shopping. I like sweet and unique things which China is famous for.
My name is Natalie Ahlgren Eriksson and I‘m 19 years old. I have a physical cerebral palsy that affects my speech, my motor skills and I’m in a wheelchair, but there is nothing stopping me!
My interests are to be with friends and family, going to concerts, singing and writing. In addition to writing, music and music history is also a passion. The big dream is to become any kind of music journalist to combine my passions. I love basically all music but rock, indie and retro music is what appeals to me most. My biggest idol is Håkan Hellström and this winter will be the fourth time I see him.
I am passionate about making society better for people with disabilities and have for six years been running a blog, www.thisishowiroll.se. During these six years I have been through so much fun. Two years ago I had my own tv-show that was broadcast on national television in Sweden. It is the coolest thing I’ve been through and I still can’t believe that it has happened.
Right now I work part time as an opinion leader on the federation of disability, which I love. I’m also looking for a job, my goal is that next year I will buy an apartment and start my life for real. I want to live in Stockholm, Södermalm along with all the media people and it is something I work on every day.
I made my first trip when I was four
The trip was to Brazil, where my mother was born and her whole family lives. Unfortunately I do not remember much because I was so small, but after having been there twice, I love it. In the Brazilian culture there is so much joy and love. The food is divine and the music makes me feel at home. If finances allow, I will go there in the winter as I miss my family so much.
